As the Co-Founder of Epilogue, I feel compelled to curate a culture of intellectualism, kindness, and sincerity. We began this project with the goal to explore video games as art, literature, and a storytelling medium, which means we aim to treat video games with the same respect as we do other important creative works. I believe that my primary value in this role is to provide a safe venue for a multitude of voices, especially people of marginalized backgrounds, to express their love for all kinds of games.
I serve as Epilogue’s editor-in-chief. Anything that gets published on the site goes through my inbox at least once, and I cannot overstate how grateful I am to work with a team of such talented writers whose viewpoints I can showcase. (Send me your article pitches!) If you’re interested in my personal thoughts on specific games, peruse my author page where you can find literally hundreds of articles that delve deeply into the intersection of gameplay and storytelling. My work has been featured in outlets like Wired, Critical Distance, and Anime Feminist. I also host the Left Behind Game Club, a fortnightly podcast with friends.
Of all the content I have produced for Epilogue, I am the most proud of three things. The first is an article that I wrote about how two video games helped me come out as a transgender woman, which has been met with enthusiasm and support from all corners of the internet. I’ve since been in contact with Dreamfeel and DontNod, creators of If Found… and Tell Me Why respectively, who expressed support for my coming out story and even mailed me concept art from their game. Another peak of my work at Epilogue is my written interpretation of Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, which the creator tweeted out with praise, and has since been taught in several college classes in English, Rhetoric, and Game Studies departments across the US and UK. The final thing I take pride in is the success of our annual charity events, 48-hour marathons known as #EG48, which have raised over $30,000 for charities like AbleGamers, Lambda Legal, and Trevor Project since we started them in 2019.
