Easy Passes
Vampyr ($16.99 / 66% off): Has there ever been a game with an interesting premise and fascinating mechanics that just absolutely fails at every corner? That is where Vampyr comes in. Filled to the brim with clunky combat, random loading pauses, and a branching narrative that punishes the player at every corner, Vampyr struggles to stay alive. There is solace to be found in the game’s music, but unfortunately it can’t carry the weight of a stumbling game. One of the easiest games to avoid during the sale.
Friday The 13th: The Game ($9.99 / 50% off): Ever wonder what it would be like to camp out on Crystal Lake? Friday The 13th: The Game presents the players with the opportunity to experience the classic horror films as a sex-crazed teenagers or even Jason himself. However, the real killer is constant cheating, bugs, and a lack of DLC due to a lawsuit in 2018. Avoid this vacation spot and try out better alternatives (like Dead By Daylight for $9.99).
DayZ ($31.49 / 30% off): Another deal returning from the previous Steam Summer Sale, DayZ finds itself at even less of a discount than before. Having been in Early Access since 2013, DayZ had a fanbase itching to experience a more polished version of the beloved Arma 2 mod. Unfortunately, the game has maintained numerous bugs and glitches, hackers, and terrible performance even after the official release. Keep searching for better games and don’t let this disappointment bite you on the way out.
Don’t Be Fooled
Call of Duty: Black Ops III – Zombies Chronicles Edition ($29.99 / 50% off): Making its return from the previous Steam Summer Sale earlier this year, Call of Duty: Black Ops III finds itself at the same discount this Halloween. This time around it comes packaged with the Zombies Chronicles content that features eight remastered classic zombies maps from previous iterations in the series. However, for a game that is going on 5 years old and a community that has moved on, it is absolutely not worth the price.
